The most significant differences between the SEL and GT models are the engines under the hood and the premium features available. To start, the SEL is standard with a 166-hp, 2.4-liter four-cylinder while the GT model has a 224-hp, 3.0-liter V6. All-wheel drive is standard on the GT, but is optional on the SEL. Both models also share a variety of features, including leather upholstery, gloss-black interior trim, roof rails and automatic wipers. Inside the cabin, the two models can be built very differently.

For example, the 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander SEL is available with two different optional packages, including the Premium and SEL Touring. The Premium package equips the SEL model with a sunroof, power liftgate, nine-speaker Rockford Fosgate audio system and much more. Or choose the GT model, which adds a 360-degree parking camera system, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and heated steering wheel.

Moving up to the GT model equips the Outlander SEL with all these premium features included on the SEL and most of the features from the Premium and SEL Touring packages. The GT trim also adds chrome exterior beltline accents and steering-wheel shift paddles.
